February 29, 2024
The time limits are what we use in the workshop. You can use them as a guideline for minimums and can write as long as you feel connected to your words.
February sensations: quick, words or phrases, 1 minute each
Your mood for February
The taste of February
Feel of the returning of the light
Sounds of moonlight
Smells of spring awakening
Write a poem using your sensations from above. 3 minutes
Balance: 5 minutes
How does the extra day disrupt or enhance your sense of balance in life? How does this unique occurrence make you feel?
"Today is an ephemeral ghost...
A strange amazing day that comes only once every four years. For the rest of time it does not 'exist".
In mundane terms, it marks a 'leap' in time, when the calendar is adjusted to make up for extra seconds accumulated over the preceding three years due to the rotation of the earth. a day of temporal tune up!
But this day holds another secret - it contains one of those truly rare moments of delightful transience and light uncertainty that only exists on the razor edge of things, along the buzzing plane of quantum probability...
A day of unlocked potential...
Will you or won't you? Should you or shouldn't you?
Use this day to do something daring, extraordinary and unlike yourself. Take a chance and shape a different pattern in your personal cloud of probability!"
-- Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual calendar of Inspiration
The leap: 5 minutes, start with the first question and add to it with each following question (if they connect with you)
Have you ever take a leap? Something that required courage?
How did the leap impact your life? Did it lead to new leaps?
Are there any leaps you aspire to take in the future?
Are there any areas of your life where you feel hesitant to take a leap?
Why? What's holding you back?
Words for March
From Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
She writes about words - the secret to understanding a person and a place.
Rome is sex. Vatican is power. New Your City is achieve. Los Angeles is succeed. Stockholm in conform. Naples is fight.
What was the word in your family when you were growing up? This is your foundation word. My word was squeeze - squeeze everything into one weekend a month with Dad and hold on tight to those memories.
What's your word? The word that encompasses you? Take some time to really figure yourself out and come up with your word. This is going to be a theme for this year.
Transition and renewal: 3 minutes
We march on to spring and dance between the seasons. Are there any winter habits you wish to shed? How are you preparing your ground for spring renewal?
Oracle Card from the Divine Nature Oracle Deck: 3 to 7 minutes
Call on Courage #26
Courage comes from our ability to believe in ourselves. Now is not the time to weigh the odds based on reality. Listen to the voice within that tells you fear is real. And that's ok. Courage is just as real and can be bigger and stronger that anything in your path. So leap!
Homework
Take 3-5 minutes (or more if you are feeling prolific):
Write a note or letter to yourself to be opened in 4 years on the next leap day. What do you hope to tell your future self? What goals do you hope to achieve? How do you wish to grow? What dreams and desires do you wish your future self to achieve?
